      check.h: remove obsolete header · ce49d99c
      Max Kellermann authored
Since we switched from autotools to Meson in commit
94592c14, we don't need to include
`config.h` early to properly enable large file support. Meson passes
the required macros on the compiler command line instead of defining
      them in `config.h`.

This means we can include `config.h` at any time, whenever we want to
check its macros, and there are no ordering constraints.

neighbor: new subsystem to detect file servers on the local network · 5c4a42ca
      Max Kellermann authored
This commit adds the NeighborPlugin API which can be used to detect
nearby file servers that can be used by input plugins. This list of
servers is exported using the new "listneighbors" command. The idle
even "neighbor" notifies interested clients when a new neighbor is
found or an existing one is lost.

      There's a lot missing currently: protocol&user documentation, and a
way to "mount" remote servers into the music database. Obviously,
some code from the UPnP database plugin can be moved to a neighbor
      plugin.

      include config.h in all sources · 5b82ffc2
      Max Kellermann authored
After we've been hit by Large File Support problems several times in
the past week (which only occur on 32 bit platforms, which I don't
have), this is yet another attempt to fix the issue.

idle: added "update" event · d4914fc9
      Max Kellermann authored
Some clients have visual feedback for "database update is running".
Using the "database" idle event is unreliable, because it is only
emitted when the database was actually modified. This patch adds the
"update" event, which is emitted when the update is started, and again
when the update is finished, disregarding whether it has been
      modified.

all: Update copyright header. · 0aee49bd
      Avuton Olrich authored
This updates the copyright header to all be the same, which is
pretty much an update of where to mail request for a copy of the GPL
and the years of the MPD project. This also puts all committers under
'The Music Player Project' umbrella. These entries should go
individually in the AUTHORS file, for consistancy.

command: added command "idle" · a3e3d2c9
      Max Kellermann authored
"idle" waits until something noteworthy happens on the server,
e.g. song change, playlist modified, database updated. This allows
clients to keep up to date without polling.

output: make "struct audio_output" opaque for output plugins · acc4a0ba
      Max Kellermann authored
We have eliminated direct accesses to the audio_output struct from
the all output plugins. Make it opaque for them, and move its real
declaration to output_internal.h, similar to decoder_internal.h.

Pass the opaque structure to plugin.init() only, which will return the
plugin's data pointer on success, and NULL on failure. This data
pointer will be passed to all other methods instead of the
      audio_output struct.

      output: added audio_output_closed() · 63fb1efb
      Max Kellermann authored
The JACK output plugin needs to reset its "opened" flag when the JACK
server fails. To prevent it from accessing the audio_output struct
directly introduce the API function audio_output_closed().

      Max Kellermann authored
Reduce direct accesses to the audio_output struct from the plugins:
this time, eliminate all accesses to audio_output.name. The name is
required by some plugins for log messages.

Move code which runs in the player thread to player_thread.c. Having

      renamed InputPlugin to struct decoder_plugin · e41be362
      Max Kellermann authored
"decoder plugin" is a better name than "input plugin", since the
plugin does not actually do the input - InputStream does. Also don't
use typedef, so we can forward-declare it if required.
